Virgin Media is to provide ultrafast broadband connections to businesses in central Glasgow.
The announcement is set to benefit up to 1,850 businesses in G1 and G2 postcodes. In addition, 7,500 small companies in the city centre are set to benefit from dedicated connections with up to 1GB speeds.
“We know there’s a link between how digitally ambitious a business is and its success, but you can’t be digitally ambitious if you don’t have an ultrafast connection to the internet. The upgrade means thousands more firms can now meet their full digital potential”, said Peter Kelly, managing director of Virgin Media Business.
Virgin Media is also working closely with the Scottish Government – through its Digital Scotland arm – to help achieve Scotland’s connectivity ambitions.
“With the growth in high definition requirements for on-demand services and the continuing uplift in the number of devices that people have in their home, we’re constantly evolving,” says Martin McFadyen, Virgin Media’s Scotland Regional Director.
