We believe everyone has the right to feel safe at work, and that our solutions can truly make a difference.
However, with a staggering 150 lone workers estimated to be either verbally or physically attacked each day in the UK, our lone worker solutions give peace of mind to both employees and employers.
At Pick Protection, we bring a fresh, cost-efficient approach to the lone worker market, allowing flexibility for our customers to better meet their needs. We were highly commended as the Security Innovation of the Year for the Safety & Health Excellence Awards 2018 and were recognised as Sunday Times & Maserati’s top 100 innovators and disruptors within our market this year.
Our range of lone worker solutions include Dedicated Devices, Apps and Bluetooth buttons. Our solutions are easy to implement, easy to use and are all supported by our cloud-based management portal.
We also provide flexibility, with the option for our solutions to be monitored by our BS:8484 accredited alarm receiving centre (ARC) or for organisations to monitor it themselves, saving around two-thirds of the cost.
Selby District is a local government district of North Yorkshire, England. The council has around 500 employees with 1 in 5 classed as a lone worker. Here’s how we worked with them to provide the right solution.
The property visiting officers needed to call the office to check in with a manager at every location stop, with visits pre-planned on shared calendars. Users were at risk if travelling to an area with little signal as they would not be able to call the office.
Selby Council opted for the managed app solution alongside Bluetooth devices to allow for quick activation of the SOS alarm.
Pick Protection’s app has been very easy to implement and use while working. With different functions on the app such registering a pre-alert where there could be a potential risk and informing the relevant people of location should there be a delay or change to the schedule, risk has been significantly reduced.
The menu tab on the mobile application is very easy to follow and the functions of the app and the alarm activation/response have made users feel more confident and provided greater peace of mind for personal security.
Logging and ending events such as a time at risk or a pre-alert is quick and easy to complete; and having the options to extend the time limits is ideal to keep everyone informed if a scheduled visit runs over time. The exposure has allowed managers to effectively keep track of users so they know they are safe on visits.
When alarms have been activated, the response time is extremely quick, and the operators are helpful and clear.
Pick Protection’s solutions have improved efficiency by allowing managers to check where officers are located instead of calling. It has also provided more flexibility and less time is wasted as visits can be extended if they overrun.
The application significantly reduces the risk of feeling unsafe or uneasy, particularly in rural locations; and ensures others are updated clearly and frequently on staff’s whereabouts.
