Technologies including AI, augmented reality, drones and digital platforms will be showcased as part of a healthcare innovation day at Glasgow Tech Week next month.

The West of Scotland Innovation Hub will spotlight the ground-breaking tech as it seeks to spotlight new NHS innovations for a range of conditions and treatments.

The event, which runs from 9.30am-4pm on Friday May 17, will take place at the Imaging Centre of Excellence on the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus in Glasgow.

It will include hands-on product demonstrations, presentations and panel discussions involving innovation fellows and clinical theme leads, as well as children’s healthcare innovation centre Hi.

Katriona Brooksbank, innovation lead for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, will introduce audience members to Hub and its work and there will be breakout sessions on the use of innovation in managing both diabetes and the menopause.

She said: “We are delighted to be hosting a Healthcare Innovation Day at the WoSIH as part of Glasgow Tech Week.

“This is an ideal opportunity for us to showcase the ways we are using innovation to address key challenges in health, social care and service delivery.

“Collaboration is key to everything we do and we very much have an open door policy for new ideas and challenges, both from industry partners, potential funders and clinical services.

“We would encourage anyone with an interest to book a place to attend our event and hear more about our current and ongoing work.”
