An Edinburgh-based online booking platform that helps businesses to manage customer demand has reported a 535 per cent rise in usage during Covid – with one barbershop taking 3,000 appointments in a single day.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Appointedd has also expanded its international reach, now helping consumers in 183 countries, and seen a 138 per cent rise in new enterprise level users.

To keep up with rapid business growth, the scheduling service has grown its headcount by 70 per cent, with recruitment still ongoing.

The scaleup, which was originally founded in 2011 as an online 24/7 booking service for small hair and beauty salons, now powers small medium enterprises (SMEs) and large businesses across 16 sectors – from retail to financial services and consulting to healthcare, beauty and education.

Offering digital solutions, Appointedd has enabled businesses and organisations to continue operating safely throughout the public health crisis, despite Covid restrictions.

As companies and organisations across all industries sought to engage with their customers, employees and users in new socially distanced ways during the pandemic, demand for Appointedd’s software solutions soared.

One barbershop took 3,000 future bookings in one day with Appointedd as salons reopened post-lockdown, while a beauty retailer saw a 360 per cent increase in online enquiries following the introduction of Appointedd’s virtual service.

Another client attributed sales worth £2.3 million directly to bookings made via Apoointedd.

Leah Hutcheon, founder and chief executive of Appointedd, said: “When the pandemic struck we knew we were in a unique position to help a huge variety of businesses and organisations operate safely and adhere to social distancing requirements.

“This has involved us adapting our services for use cases from occupational Covid-19 testing for offshore contractors, to beauty brands using Appointedd to connect with thousands of customers at once and now helping businesses across all sectors return to work safely with desk and office entry booking.

“The flexibility of Appointedd’s software and the way this has helped our clients find solutions to problems, especially in these unprecedented Covid times, is something I am very proud of.”
