More than 300 delegates are expected to attend Digital Scotland 2018, the inaugural national conference exploring transformation of the nation’s public services and wider economy.

Digital leaders from the Scottish and UK governments will join technology sector leaders in Scotland and the UK later this month to assess progress, explore opportunities, and address challenges.

Chris Yiu, Senior Policy Fellow for Technology at The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, and a former General Manager at Uber, will deliver the 2018 keynote.

Also taking part at the event, on 21 June in Strathclyde University’s Technology and Innovation Centre, is Gerard Grech, Chief Executive of Tech Nation, the UK network of technology entrepreneurs. Tech Nation publishes the annual ‘state of the nation’ report that captures the strength, depth and breadth of digital tech activity in the UK.

Also participating is Cat Leaver, Head of Strategy at After Digital, and the newly appointed project director of Brand Scotland, responsible for coordinating international marketing activity across VisitScotland, Scottish Development International, and the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government’s Digital Director, Colin Cook, and Scottish Local Government’s Chief Digital Officer, Martyn Wallace, will share latest thinking on the nation’s transformation strategy.

Approaches to growing the digital technologies sector and digital transformation of the wider economy will be explored by Polly Purvis, Chief Executive of ScotlandIS, and Mark Bevan, Chief Executive of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry.

They are among more than 40 leaders in their fields making Digital Scotland 2018 the main event for those with a role to play and an interest in Scotland’s digital future. Panel sessions throughout the day will delve deep into the themes underpinning public services, the economy, and Scotland’s digital infrastructure.
