Fintech focus for the latest in VisitScotland’s INNOVATETHENATION series

VisitScotland Business Events will hold its latest INNOVATETHENATION event at CodeBase, in Stirling’s digital district, during the inaugural FinTech Scotland Fortnight 2018.

INNOVATETHENATION, organised by the business events team at VisitScotland, is an ongoing series of talks which bring together industry experts to discuss Scotland’s areas of excellence and innovation and to help attract future events to Scotland’s cities and regions.

INNOVATEFINTECH, will discuss the country’s thriving FinTech sector and discuss its ongoing progress towards becoming a world leader in the financial services sector.

Speakers at INNOVATEFINTECH on 24 September include Stephen Ingledew, chief executive of FinTech Scotland, based in Edinburgh; Daniel Broby, Director of the Centre for Financial Regulation and Innovation at Strathclyde Business School; Alex Ford, VP Operations, Encompass Corporation, based in Glasgow and Loral Quinn, CEO & Founder of tech company Sustainability, based in Edinburgh.

Attendees will hear from them on topics including public data, data innovation, the importance of audience in crowdfunding, and social good enabled by digital technologies. INNOVATEFINTECH will take place during Scotland’s inaugural FinTech Scotland Fortnight 2018, a collection of 18 events held across the country discussing the sector from the 17–28 September.

Rory Archibald, of VisitScotland Business Events, said: “Scotland is fast becoming a leader in the FinTech industry and since 2008 the sector has attracted £37 million worth of investment.

“Events are critical to Scotland’s economy. They help showcase our innovation on a world stage, they champion for social change, they enable collaboration and highlight our investment potential. InnovateFintech will be a hugely exciting event, discussing just how Scotland will become a global leader in Fintech over the next five years.”
