Residents living in three areas of Scotland’s largest council are being asked to apply for parking permits exclusively online.
Due to the closure of service points across Highland Council, the system for managing the issuing of permits has moved to an online portal only.
Residents who do not have access to the internet are being asked to seek assistance from family members or friends in order to secure a permit.
A Highland Council spokesperson said: “Residents of Inverness, Fort William and Nairn who need to renew or apply for a Highland Council parking permit must now do so using an online application form.
“Following suspension of residents parking permits during the coronavirus lockdown Highland Council is now resuming the service from Monday 14 September.
“Residents who are eligible for a parking permit will be able to renew or apply for permits through the Council’s new online self-service portal at www.highland.gov.uk/parkingpermits where details on permit zones and terms and conditions can also be found.
“This move to an entirely online permit service is necessary due to both Scottish Government and UK Government’s advice to minimise social contact. The Council had to take the difficult decision to close all Service Points and they remain currently unavailable for in-person visits.”
Any temporary permit arrangements will be withdrawn by 1 November 2020.
