A Chicago-based consultancy has been appointed to help Scottish digital health and ‘med-tech’ firms break into the US market.

AVIA, which specialises in helping health systems deliver digital solutions ‘at scale’, has been selected by Scottish Development International (SDI) to help ‘multiple’ Scottish companies achieve faster and greater success in the US.

According to an entry on the Public Contracts Scotland website, a contract worth $150,000 (£123,000) has been agreed to help ‘build SDI’s understanding of US healthcare market priorities and digital trends and align them with proven and promising Scottish digital health companies’.

Under a title of ‘US Market Trade Accelerator for Scottish Digital Health and MedTech Sector’, the short description of the procurement reads: “SDI is looking for a US-based network of health systems seeking to innovate and transform by harnessing the power of digital. In this role, the supplier aggregates US health system needs and provides strategic focus, rigorous process, and a collaborative approach that empowers providers to move faster on consuming innovation with greater confidence.

“The supplier should outline methodologies to build SDI’s understanding of US healthcare market priorities and digital trends and align them with proven and promising Scottish digital health companies. This project will create an accelerated system for enabling multiple Scottish Digital Health and MedTech Trade companies to achieve faster and greater success in the US market.”

According to its website, ‘AVIA Innovator Network members solve pressing challenges with digital solutions that deliver financial and clinical results. AVIA maps the path forward, providing strategic focus, rigorous process discipline, and a collaborative approach so that our members move faster with greater confidence.’

The company was appointed on the contract award notice as the sole bidder on the tender. We will hopefully bring you more information in due course.
