Innovators from academia, industry and government will convene next week for a summit in Glasgow which will explore the ‘power of ideas’ to solve societal challenges.

Organised by the university startup and spinout platform, Converge, the event will be hosted at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall on Thursday 18 April.

It will look at how cutting-edge developments in AI, net zero, data science, health and the life sciences can contribute to solving global challenges including climate change.

Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE, often referred to as the BBC’s ‘face of space’, will headline the event, which is supported by the Scottish Ecosystem Fund 2023-24.

She will be discussing the power of dreams, reaching for the stars and her journey from a dyslexic child on a North London housing estate to internationally acclaimed space scientist.

Other speakers include high-growth entrepreneur and physicist, Dr Dave Hughes; Susanne Mitschke, an award-winning healthcare entrepreneur and founder of Citruslabs and Aline de Santa Izabel, a Brazilian innovator and ecosystem builder based in Helsinki.
