Supplied/The Net Zero Technology Centre

The Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) has extended the application closing date for its 2023 Open Innovation Programme to Friday 24th February.

NZTC is seeking game changing ideas that will reduce emissions and accelerate an integrated energy system, leveraging data and digital technology.

Businesses from across the globe can apply for up to £500K NZTC funding with the potential of additional match funding from industry to support their technology development and deployment projects.

The projects must support the transition towards net zero with an obligation of trialling and deploying technology on the UK continental shelf. As well as funding, the projects will also gain access to data facilities and technical expertise from industry.

Six technology focus areas have been identified for the funding competition:

Data and digitally based solutions must be tied to a key use case that have the potential to make a material contribution towards the energy transition. These should be focussed on the specifically selected themes from our roadmap including:

This year’s funding round follows a highly successful 2022 programme, which awarded over £20 million to 23 game changing net zero technologies made up of £8 million from NZTC and over £12 million co-funded by industry.

NZTC is investing in the areas where technology gaps exist and where the opportunity is substantial in accelerating the energy transition. Submit your idea by the 24th February 2023 to be part of the journey.
