Scotland’s Turing Fest announces world class speaker line-up

Edinburgh’s technology festival, Turing Fest, continues its evolution into a world-class business conference with the announcement of a lineup of internationally-renowned speakers, from businesses such as Spotify, iZettle, Intercom and Monzo.

Running from 1-2 August at the EICC, Turing Fest is one of the fastest-growing tech conferences in Europe, delivering two days of insight and inspiration and peer-to-peer networking for anyone working in the tech industry.

“Established in 2011, Turing Fest attracts not only high-calibre speakers but an attendee list that reads as a who’s who of Scotland’s booming tech industry,” said a spokesperson.

“Run almost as six mini-conferences under one roof, it’s big enough to attract top talent, yet still intimate enough for everyone to mingle, gaining and sharing insight and inspiration from both speakers and peers.”

This year organisers expect the largest turnout yet, with 2,000 investors, founders, designers, engineers, product managers, executives and marketeers exploring the conference’s six core themes: Product, Engineering, Strategy, Growth, Marketing, and Culture.

Featuring over 50 globally renowned speakers (full list here) delivering a wide range of sessions, including:

• Amy Zima, Product Manager Spotify, previously PM at Twitter, “Killing Products”

• Edgar Rouwenhorst, Chief Marketing Officer iZettle – “Growth: From Cult Leaders to Chief Executives”

• Des Traynor, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Intercom – “What We’ve Learned From Scaling to 0-25k+ Paying Customers”

• Meri Williams, Chief Technology Officer, MOO/ incoming CTO, Monzo – Five Things I Wish I’d Known Sooner About Scaling Teams & Culture

Brian Corcoran, Turing Fest’s chief executive, said: “Scotland has the potential to grow into one of Europe’s top tech ecosystems, and our mission is to help enable that.

“Turing Fest is already Scotland’s flagship tech event both for showing the world what is happening here on the ground, and also attracting the best international talent, investors, and founders into the country.

“The fact that we run on the shoulder of the Edinburgh Festival is a great bonus, especially for our international visitors — Turing Fest 2018 includes participants from more than 20 countries. We’ve got ambitious plans for the future, and we’re just getting started!”
