Scottish digital leaders selected for ‘creative training boost’

TRC, a Glasgow-based training provider for broadcast and digital, has announced the candidates for Cross Creative – a high-end training programme for Scottish business leaders working in digital and tech “looking to gain a competitive edge and take their business to the next level”.

Funded by Scottish Enterprise, BBC, Channel 4 and Creative Scotland, Cross Creative has been running since 2007 and has supported almost 100 leaders from Scotland’s thriving digital sector.

The programme begins in November and runs until April next year, with monthly workshops focusing on business issues ranging from effective negotiation to creative company culture and scaling up. Cross Creative concludes with an international business trip to Canada’s famous Toronto-Waterloo Region Corridor, giving participants the unparalleled opportunity to gain access to some of the best digital companies in the world.

The selected delegates for the 2018/19 programme are:

Jemma Goba commented: “Tanami has been growing significantly – but growth needs control. Rather than finding myself swept along at such an exciting time, I want to remain objective and ensure we maintain a clear strategic direction.  This is why Cross Creative is such a brilliant opportunity…the chance to step back and see how others tackle similar issues.

“The Cross Creative alumni and their businesses have benefited hugely from participating and the reputation of Scotland as a hub of digital excellence has clearly been enhanced. Tanami has already had a taste of working internationally and I look forward to opening-up many more overseas clients as a result of my participation.”

James MacIver added: “It’s an unbeatable opportunity to come together with some of the brightest in Scotland’s Digital Sector to help further the successes of our businesses and the wider tech community as whole. The value of having access to Industry experts who have ‘been there and done that’ and have them help us prepare to further grow our businesses cannot be overstated.”

Claire Scally and Margaret Scott, joint managing directors of TRC,said in a statement: “Once again, we were hugely impressed by the standard of applications for Cross Creative – highlighting the wealth of talent in Scotland’s thriving digital sector.

“The selected candidates come from a wide range of companies across the sector, and we’re confident that they’ll learn as much from each other as from the professional trainers and industry leaders delivering the training.”

Daniel Rae, co-founder of Social Media Agency Hydrogen who participated in last year’s Cross Creative, said: “There are initiatives out there for people trying to get a business off the ground, but training for business owners or senior people in a company is hard to come by. Cross Creative opens the door to networking with your peers, hands-on experience and international exposure. I don’t think anything else out there compares to it.”
