The Scottish justice system is continuing to modernise its processes as the Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service commits to a four-year digital transformation programme.
COPFS will work with Edinburgh-headquartered Storm ID to ‘design, develop and deliver a range of innovative and transformative digital applications and information solutions’.
They include developing critical public facing systems like the COPFS Witness Gateway and the Defence Agents Service, as well as using AI-driven solutions and process automation to enhance operations and service delivery.
The company will help to also redesign and redevelop end-of-life applications to ensure continued functionality and efficiency.
COPFS plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law, prosecuting crime and ensuring public safety in Scotland. Their ongoing digital transformation programme aims to modernise and enhance their services, improve efficiency and optimise their workforce through the strategic use of technology.
Much of the development will be enabled by cloud and data platforms as well as cognitive services to transform corporate and casework processes. The firm will also provide expertise and support for the integration of a next-generation Case Management System.
“We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with COPFS. This contract is a testament to the strong collaborative relationship we have built and the value we deliver,” said Linsey Lydon, Client Services Director, Storm ID. “We are excited to continue supporting COPFS’s digital transformation journey and contribute to a more efficient and accessible justice system for Scotland.”
The firm has already worked on digital programmes with COPFS since 2021, including the production and launch of the public Umbraco website, and a new SharePoint intranet containing a bespoke digital library for extensive documentation.
“This contract supports our commitment to delivering innovative and effective digital business solutions that enhance the way the organisation works and the essential public services we provide,” said Ross McMillan, Head of Information Services Division at COPFS. “We are pleased to continue our partnership with Storm ID and look forward to ongoing success.”
