Forget rifling through your pockets, wallet or purse for loose change, drivers in Stirling will be able to pay by mobile phone to use on and off street parking in the region from next Monday.
Stirling Council is partnering with RingGo – one of the UK’s leading cashless parking providers – to allow motorists in the area an “easy and quick” digital method of payment.
The most popular way to use RingGo is via the app, which can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Users that don’t have a smartphone can book their parking by calling, sending a text message, or via the website.
Councillor Jim Thomson, convener of Stirling Council’s environment and housing committee, said: “People may have started noticing RingGo location stickers being added to our ticket machines ahead of the new service going live on Monday.
“With only a few days left until paying by mobile becomes an option across Stirling, please download the app so you can use the new quick and easy-to-use booking system straight away.”
By paying for parking via RingGo there is no need to display a ticket, as enforcement officers check the vehicle registration details against the RingGo database.
Vice convener Cllr Danny Gibson said: “It’s great news that motorists across Stirling will now have a cashless booking system for parking from the start of next week alongside the current cash payment option.
“Using the RingGo app will save time, remove the need to bring appropriate change in cash and provide greater flexibility when visiting our town centres as you can extend your stay with the touch of a button.”
RingGo is already widely available across Scotland, including at neighbouring local authorities Perth and Kinross and Falkirk, as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh.
