Turing Fest announces 2019 speakers

Turing Fest, Europe’s “leading cross-functional tech conference”, is returning to Edinburgh this year with, said organisers, “an ambitious new format and a formidable lineup of speakers from some of the world’s leading software businesses”.

The conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 28-29 August will host more than 3,000 attendees for a programme of keynotes, panels, parties and fringe events, alongside a “buzzing expo featuring some of Europe’s most exciting startups”.

Designed from the ground up, to bring together everyone involved in building and scaling high-growth, high-impact technology businesses, Turing Fest 2019 is divided into three tracks:

Build: engineering, product management, design & user experience, data
Grow: marketing, growth, revenue, customer success
Lead: culture, strategy, scaling, leadership

The first group of speakers, announced today, includes:

-Hana Abaza, director of marketing at £17bn ecommerce platform Shopify
-Erin Platts, incoming Head of EMEA at Silicon Valley Bank
-Maria Gutierrez, director of engineering at Intercom, one of the world’s fastest-growing SaaS startups
-Danae Shell, Chief Marketing Officer at acclaimed Scottish care-matching startup CareSourcer
-Fred Destin, one of Europe’s most respected venture capital investors and co-founder of £50m investment fund Stride.VC
-Kieran Flanagan, VP of Growth at leading marketing technology platform HubSpot

More than 60 speakers will take the stage at Turing Fest 2019, and further announcements are to follow. Turing Fest has grown from just 600 attendees in 2016 to an expected 3,000 in 2019, while welcoming expert speakers from the world’s leading tech businesses including Google, Amazon, GitHub, Microsoft, TransferWise, Spotify, Skyscanner, Monzo and more.

This year also sees the return of Turing Founders, an invitation-only founder/investor summit on Tuesday 27 August. This year’s Founders event will connect 250 ambitious startup founders and executives with 75 of Europe and North America’s most forward-thinking early-stage investors. Previous participants have gone on to raise more than £35m in new funding since 2017.

Brian Corcoran, chief executive of Turing Fest, said: “We’re making cross-functional collaboration the cornerstone theme of Turing Fest, and taking a holistic view of how great products and tech businesses are built.

“Attendees can expect a diverse mixture of specialist tactical insight, strategic wisdom, and ‘war stories’ from tech veterans, all designed to help our community get better at what they do – building great technology and great tech companies.”

“We’re shaking up the format for Turing Fest 2019, to deliver an even more expansive range of content and viewpoints, while maintaining the unique sense of community and intimacy that makes Turing Fest so special.”

Organisers said that their ‘Super Early Bird’ tickets are still available “this week only, with prices going up this Friday”. To find out more or to buy tickets visit turingfest.com
