UK Tech Ecosystem Update

A recent report published on behalf of the UK Government’s Digital Economy Council  shows the resilience of startups and growing tech companies in Scotland who continue to attract investment, are still advertising tens of thousands of vacancies and expect to successfully navigate the coronavirus crisis. In 2019, Edinburgh advertised 35,786 digital tech roles, making up over 22% of jobs in the city region, After London, Edinburgh had the highest median salary for digital tech jobs in the UK in 2019, The median salary for tech roles in Edinburgh was 6% higher in 2019 compared to 2018, Employees in Edinburgh’s tech sector have a median salary of £44,938, 17% higher than the median salary across all sectors in the city in 2019, Glasgow advertised 148,908 digital tech roles, making up over 22% of jobs in the city, The median salary for tech roles in Glasgow was 3% higher in 2019 compared to 2018 Employees in Glasgow’s tech sector have a median salary of £40,000, 35% higher than the median salary across all sectors in the city in 2019 You can find the full report here which was compiled by Dealroom.co and Tech Nation.
