A US hyperscaler has announced a partnership with CodeBase – the growth platform for emerging technology businesses in Scotland – with a particular focus on supporting AI startups.
CoreWeave, which unveiled a £1.5 billion investment in ‘green’ AI infrastructure last September, partnering with Glasgow datacentre company DataVita, will deepen its commitment to Scotland by offering its AI expertise to Scottish founders.
CodeBase and CoreWeave are hosting an exclusive event for AI startups on Tuesday 5th May in Edinburgh, the first in a series of founder-focused events.
CoreWeave Ventures, which backs founders and companies developing the platforms and technologies shaping the AI ecosystem and the ‘next frontier of computing’, will also participate in the initial event.
Startups and scaleups supported by CodeBase will gain access to CoreWeave expertise through technical sessions, joint reports, and opportunities to explore advanced AI use cases on CoreWeave infrastructure. CoreWeave and CodeBase will create opportunities to develop AI platforms to interact with computing capabilities through a series of events.
James Trotman, VP of Growth at CodeBase, said: “This marks the first major collaboration between Scotland’s national tech ecosystem platform and a global leader in AI infrastructure, aligning world-class infrastructure investment with founder and talent development at scale.”
Ben Richardson, managing director, international, at CoreWeave, said: “Scotland is fast becoming an exciting centre of AI innovation. Our partnership with CodeBase and recent investment in Scotland reflects CoreWeave’s belief in the strength of this ecosystem. By providing a world-class AI cloud platform to Scotland’s thriving AI community, we’re creating new opportunities for researchers, engineers, and entrepreneurs to build globally impactful technologies.”
CodeBase launched its AI Discovery programme earlier this year, a new initiative designed to foster a pipeline of deeptech AI startups built by postgraduate researchers, delivered alongside the University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, and NHS Scotland. And in November, CodeBase relaunched digital skills initiative CodeClan, including an agentic AI programme to up-skill engineers.
