Cyber Security Consultancy Context has opened its first Scottish office, located near Haymarket Station near Edinburgh.

The new Edinburgh base will enable Scotland-based companies to access a comprehensive range of services including penetration testing and red teaming, where highly-skilled cyber security consultants attempt to break through a company’s IT security defences to identify weaknesses.

Focal point

“Edinburgh is a focal point for both traditional and disruptive financial services organisations that need to protect sensitive and valuable customer data and are a prime target for cyber criminals,” said Andrew Scott, Scotland Assurance Lead at Context. “With this new base in Edinburgh and a team of highly-experienced consultants in the finance sector, we are able to better serve these companies and react immediately to cyber attacks to protect their assets.”

“Scottish companies have been leading the way in understanding risk and developing effective cyber security strategies,” added Tony Romanis, Scotland Account Director at Context. “Scottish universities such as Abertay and Napier have excellent degree courses for cyber security practitioners and Edinburgh has a thriving ‘white hat’ ethical hacking community. We look forward to harnessing this local talent and helping to strengthen Scotland’s global position in cyber security.”

Rapid expansion

The opening of an Edinburgh office marks the latest phase in Context’s rapid expansion. The company, which employs almost 200 cyber security experts, also has offices in London, Cheltenham, Cambridge and Basingstoke as well as international offices in Germany, USA and Australia. The new office also provides an exciting opportunity for Central Belt-based cyber security professionals.

Established in 1998, Context is certified by NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) – part of GCHQ – and the government Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure. It is also accredited by CREST, the not-for-profit industry body that sets the highest levels of standards, knowledge and skills in cyber security.
