A telecoms firm is aiming to support the digital transformation journey for Scotland’s emergency services, the NHS and local government with a key new hire.
Kirste Johnston joins MLL Telecom as strategic client director for Scotland and the north of England after a nine-year stint at Vodafone, and 30 years in the industry.
Johnston has experience in consultative technical sales, sales strategy and leadership. She was Vodafone’s sector head for Scottish Government where other roles included leading the mid-market sector team in Scotland and Northern Ireland and supporting and developing digital transformation strategy programmes and sales in the public and devolved government sector.
She joined Vodafone from Barclay Telecom in Scotland where she was strategic business manager having joined from Talk Talk Business – Opal.
She said: “I am delighted to be at MLL Telecom as strategic client director for Scotland and North of England where there is a major opportunity for the company to help transform and digitally evolve sectors such as blue light, NHS and local government.
“With the support and drive of our experienced team here in Scotland, I am very excited and confident that MLL will continue to build on its success in the region.”
MLL Telecom, which is headquartered in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, designs and manages secure networks for UK mobile operators, UK public sector organisations – including local government, blue light, and health – as well as third sector bodies.
It is also a leading provider of managed wide area networks and telecommunication services such as LAN, UC, Wi-Fi, security and cloud infrastructure.
Last year, it provided a new voice over internet telephony system to drive Scottish Fire & Rescue service’s ‘cloud first’ digital transformation strategy. The (VoIP) communications system was unveiled at the service’s new £12 million Cambuslang Asset Resource Centre (ARC) in Glasgow.
And it was awarded £1.8 million contract to deliver a high speed network to bolster administrative security and resilience – and facilitate virtual hearings and remote juries within Scottish courts.
Shaun Ledgerwood, CEO, MLL Telecom, said: “Having Kirste join us in Scotland is a major coup for MLL. Scotland is a hugely important market for our company, and we are committed to accelerating our market presence there while continuing to deliver the high quality and responsive customer service we are known for throughout the region.”
