Top Scottish women in digital heading to Amsterdam for European conference

Seven of Scotland’s top women in digital are travelling to Amsterdam as part of TRCmedia’s Special Edition training programme. The seven delegates, from established and emerging Scottish digital companies, will attend the two day European Women in Technology conference in Amsterdam this week and spend an extra two days in the city meeting a host of Amsterdam’s top business leaders as part of the international.

At the sold out European Women in Technology conference, delegate Searra Dodds will present her case study of how a redundancy lead to the creation of a new start-up business in the form of Trivia-as-Service company Jukebox Labs.

The trip marks the halfway point for Special Edition, which kicked off in August and will wrap early February after a second business trip to London, where the delegates will meet innovative digital companies closer to home.

The overall ambition of the programme is to set the female delegates on a career trajectory that ultimately leads to the boardroom, with monthly training sessions focusing on themes ranging from pitching with confidence to leadership skills.

This year’s delegates are:

Ceri Shaw FreeAgent | Engineering Team Lead
Claire McGarry Wireframe Immersive | Managing Director
Helen Reid Dog Digital  | Marketing & Comms Manager
Joanna Jakubowska Tag Games  | Artist
Laura McHard Soluis Group | Lead Creative
Lynsey Briston Skyscanner | User Satisfaction Team Leader, EMEA
Searra Dodds Jukebox Labs  | Chief Creative Officer

As well as attending the two day conference, the Special Edition delegates will meet WeTransfer’s VP of sales, Natascha Chamuleau, TomTom’s navigation director Josette Udo, chief technology officer for LeaseWeb Svenja de Vos, digital communications manager for Scrn Paul Jordan and serial entrepreneur, writer and speaker Janneke Niessen.

TRCmedia’s Caroline Newson, project lead for Special Edition said: “Our planned trip to Amsterdam to meet up with leading ‘home grown’ digital companies made perfect sense when it also coincided with this conference. We are thrilled that one of our Special Edition delegates Searra Dodds will share the story of her Scottish business start-up JukeBoxLabs at this showcase of inspiring female leaders.”

TRCmedia is one of the UK’s leading training providers for TV and Digital. Special Edition – now in its fifth year of operation- is a six month career progression programme for women working in digital and technology that aims to address the gender imbalance at senior and board level positions in the sectors.
