The Scottish Government has entered the recruitment market for a new ‘head of cyber’ to oversee its organisational and national cyber resilience and security functions.

The £81k deputy director role will also take charge of the new Scottish Cyber Coordination Centre (SC3), set up as a collaborative public sector response service to cybercrime.

‘As well as leading national cyber policy, you will be the head of the new Scottish Cyber Coordination Centre, which will improve the cyber resilience of Scotland’s public sector. You’ll do this through a range of practical measures, working closely with large delivery sectors such as health, local government, as well as Higher and Further Education,’ the job description said.

‘You will also oversee the operational cyber security functions for the Scottish Government’s systems.’

The person sought will have had experience in a senior cyber resilience or security leadership role, ‘ideally gained within a large organisation’, the post added.

The candidate will have to be security cleared to ‘Security Check’ (SC) level, and the role is open to UK and overseas applicants, subject to meeting certain criteria.
