A Scottish satellite connectivity firm that specialises in bringing platforms like Starlink and OneWeb to ‘mission critical’ sectors is scaling its operations in the US and Brazil.
Bathgate-based Clarus Communications has made a key appointment as it looks to expand its offer into the North and South American markets.
Chris Shields, an experienced leader in the tech industry, has joined the company as sales director, to drive international growth in a rapidly-expanding market.
Clarus delivers mission-critical connectivity, underpinned by a 24/7 managed service for organisations operating in demanding environments.
The appointment follows a year of multiple award wins, including being named a 2025 Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 award winner with 941% revenue growth over three years.
Chris brings more than 20 years of commercial and leadership experience in the technology sector, spanning cloud, managed services, networking, and data solutions. Most recently, he served as Managing Director at Cybit, leading a period of sustained growth and service evolution.
In his new role, Chris will lead Clarus’ sales strategy across key sectors and international markets. His remit includes building strategic partnerships, expanding enterprise and channel capability, and accelerating adoption of Clarus’ software and network management solutions, helping customers improve resilience, visibility and operational performance.
Derek Phillips, Managing Director at Clarus Networks, said: “Chris is a high-calibre commercial leader with a strong track record of scaling teams and sharpening propositions. As Clarus grows further in the UK and expands outside it, his experience will be a real asset to our customers and our business.”
Chris Shields added: “Clarus is tackling connectivity challenges that directly impact operations and service delivery. I’m excited to join the team, deepen strategic customer relationships, build new partnerships, and help scale the business in the UK and internationally.”
