Canva, one of the world’s leading visual design platforms, has joined Scotland’s national digital learning platform for schools – giving thousands of pupils across the country access to creative and AI tools.

The visual communication and collaboration app, which is used by business, consumers and students in more than 190 countries worldwide, is now available on the schools education network Glow.

All teachers and students with a Glow account can now request access to Canva Education through their local authority, unlocking premium features at no cost.

Over 109,000 Glow users have already joined, with Scottish teachers and students creating 1.38 million designs on the platform to date.

The agreement is opt-in for each of Scotland’s 32 local authorities, with Canva supporting adoption through dedicated training sessions, competitions, and curriculum-aligned resources for teachers. Glasgow City Council is among the first local authorities to opt in demonstrating the potential of the partnership.

Canva Education has 50 million education users across the UK and Europe, including every school in Poland, Türkiye, and Slovenia. Scotland now joins that movement, putting world-class creative and AI tools within reach of every learner in the country.

Jake Steadman, UK country manager at Canva, said: Creativity is no longer a nice-to-have for the world young people are stepping into, it’s as essential as reading and writing. Scotland has always understood that investing in education is investing in the future, and joining Glow puts us at the heart of that.

“For the first time, every teacher and student in Scotland will have access to the same powerful creative and AI tools, regardless of where they go to school. That’s what our Force For Good mission is really about: making sure education equity actually exists everywhere for the next generation.”

Donna McMaster, chief executive of Education Scotland, which manages Glow, said: “We are delighted to announce that Canva will be available to Glow users as an opt-in service. Glow, Scotland’s national digital learning platform, continues to expand the tools and resources available to support high-quality learning and teaching, helping to foster creativity, collaboration and essential digital skills.

“Through this addition, learners and teachers will gain access to Canva’s intuitive design tools, enabling them to create engaging presentations, visual content and classroom resources from any internet-enabled device.”
