Analysts working in Scotland’s public sector are being encouraged to sign up to a data science accelerator to develop their data skills.

The Scottish Government has launched the Data Science Accelerator in a bid to help analysts unlock new insights applicable to projects within their organisations.

The programme, established by the Digital Directorate, will allow the analysts to work with data professionals to ‘identify and solve complex business problems’.

It is also an opportunity to develop mentoring skills. Mentors work side by side with the participants to provide advice and guidance.

The programme uses techniques from a range of scientific and computer science disciplines including statistics, analytics and machine learning. It offers the potential to gain valuable insight and transform decision-making about public services.

Individuals working for organisations that produce official statistics are urged to apply and who occupy roles such as analyst, statistician, economist or researcher – or in other data-related roles.
