National Digital Learning Week (NDLW) takes place 14 – 18 May. NDLW is an annual Education Scotland event where teachers and learners from schools are encouraged to take part in digital learning and teaching activities.
The 2018 event will celebrate the Year of Young People, the Scottish Government designed to give young people a stronger voice on issues which affect their lives, showcase their ideas and talents, and ultimately, aim to challenge status quo and create a more positive perception of them in society.
Digital technology is an integral part of the lives of our children and young people. It is estimated that around 90% of jobs across the UK require an element of digital skills and we must take steps to ensure that we equip our children and young people to prepare them for life beyond school years.
There are many examples of digital technology being used in classrooms across the country to enhance learning and teaching and National Digital Learning Week 2018 is the perfect opportunity showcase this.
There will be a schedule of events available for all levels and abilities to help inspire ideas for activities throughout the week. Look out for an announcement after Easter with more details about this.
In the meantime save 14 – 18 May in your school diary and start having a think about how you can use digital to make a difference.
