Public sector innovation and ‘tech for good’ were among the standout winners last night at the annual Scottish digital tech awards.
NHS 24’s commitment to NHS 24’s commitment to enhancing public services through digital advancements was celebrated at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow, hosted by tech trade body ScotlandIS.
NHS 24 took home the Public Sector Innovation award for running Scotland’s 111 telephone and digital healthcare services.
The judges recognised that this was an ambitious project with national and citizen impact. It has shown improvements to both patients and staff outcomes and is already beginning to deliver financial benefits at an early stage.
Also recognised was Storm ID, the Edinburgh digital transformation specialist, won the Tech for Good award for its Storm Diagnostics pathway solution that helps accelerate the diagnosis and treatment process for people living with long-term, complex medical conditions.
In the Cyber Excellence category, Closed Door Security impressed judges with its journey from a one-man operation in Stornoway to a business serving a global customer base.
Karen Meechan, chief executive officer at ScotlandIS, said: “Each year these awards remind us of the strength, ambition and innovation across Scotland’s tech sector. The companies and individuals pushing boundaries and showing resilience in the face of uncertainty are exactly why these awards exist; to shine a spotlight on the world-class talent we have here in Scotland.
“The calibre and diversity of this year’s winners was outstanding. As technology becomes embedded in almost every sector, we’ve seen an even broader range of organisations taking part in the awards – from learning platforms and banking giants to automotive retailers and beyond.
“Last year, ScotlandIS celebrated its 25th anniversary. It was a huge milestone but we’re not resting on our laurels yet. We owe it to the remarkable people who make Scotland’s tech sector so vibrant and dynamic to keep telling their stories, championing their impact and creating conditions for them to thrive both at home and on a global stage.”
